Meet Polibot, the ATLAS farmer robot
Research developed jointly by the Politecnico of Bari’s Robotic Mobility Lab
and CNR’s STIIMA and STEMS Institutes towards the deployment
of robotic technologies in agriculture, showcased in a video.
A farmer robot, named Polibot, was custom-built and tested at STEMS Pilot site in Torino, Italy. Polibot features an advanced perception system that provides accurate localization and environment awareness towards full autonomy in precision agriculture applications.Functional tests of autonomous navigation were performed on different grounds including concrete, asphalt, clay, lawn and unpaved tracks with different soil roughness conditions, and in an experimental vineyard with variable slopes.
