ATLAS at the EuroTier 2022

EuroTier is the world’s leading trade fair for animal farming and livestock management. Production and value chains as well as demands on livestock farming are increasingly changing in Europe and worldwide. It is equally important for farm managers and companies in agribusiness to actively shape the future. The EuroTier innovation platform of the global animal production industry offers a complete overview of innovations, solutions and established standards. This year’s edition hosted the Guiding Theme “Transforming Animal Farming”. The ATLAS team took part as an exhibitor in EuroTier 2022 trade fair and also at a panel discussion and a stakeholder workshop during the “Animal Welfare Evening”. Find out more here.

Polibot, the ATLAS farmer robot

A farmer robot, named Polibot, was custom-built jointly by the Politecnico of Bari’s Robotic Mobility Lab and CNR’s STIIMA Institute and tested at STEMS Pilot site in Torino, Italy. Polibot features an advanced perception system that provides accurate localization and environment awareness towards full autonomy in precision agriculture applications. Functional tests of autonomous navigation were performed on different grounds including concrete, asphalt, clay, lawn, and unpaved tracks with different soil roughness conditions, and in an experimental vineyard with variable slopes. Watch Polibot hard at work here & here.

ATLAS at the Agrotica Expo

ATLAS was showcased in AGROTICA 2022 Fair over a 4day event. On the 21st of October 2022 the project coordinator Dr. Stefan Rilling from Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems, as well as the Soil & Water Resources Institute (SWRI), the National Observatory of Athens, Agroapps, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and CERTH, offered a comprehensive presentation of the ATLAS project and its results. Οn the same day, a very focused group of highly ranked and influential stakeholders and decision makers were hosted by Gerovassiliou Estate, where two critical pilot fields of the Hellenic Innovation Hub of our project are located.
